Software-intensive systems are among the most complex artefacts ever built: they undergo a multitude of constantly changing requirements, they interact with a variety of users and systems, they are composed of many communicating and heterogeneous components, they must be able to adapt quickly to changing technologies, and they often exist in many different variants that live in parallel. In addition, the heavy and increasing dependence of our current society on software makes the consequences of failures in software development or operation ever more severe.
The MoVES project combines the leading Belgian research teams in software engineering, with recognised scientific excellence in model-driven engineering, software evolution, formal modelling and verification and aspect-oriented software development. The project aims to advance the state of the art in each of these domains. The long term objective of the consortium is to strengthen existing collaborations and forge new links between the teams involved, and to leverage and disseminate our research expertise in this domain at a European level.
The third annual meeting of the MoVES project will be held on December 17, 2009, at the University of Louvain in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. To enhance dissemination of research results outside of the initial consortium, the meeting is scheduled as part of a three-day event on Software Verification and Evolution, jointly with the Annual Meeting of the FNRS Contact Group on Fundamental Computer Science (December 16) and the BENEVOL 2009 seminar on Sofware Evolution (December 17-18).
Participation to the MoVES meeting is open to anyone who is interested, and participants of the FNRS Contact Group or the BENEVOL seminar in particular. However, for logistic purposes all participants need to register prior to the event. Late registrations may be refused if no more places remain available for the meeting.
For MoVES members, we recall that attendance to the yearly meeting is mandatory for researchers funded by the IAP programme, and for researchers who perform at least 50% of their work within the IAP network. The goal is to encourage junior and senior researchers to mingle and to improve cross-team collaborations.
Contributions by MoVES partners have been solicited for presentations at the meeting. Every partner will get the opportunity to present. Contributions by younger researchers in the MoVES consortium is encouraged: the MoVES meeting provides an excellent forum for younger researchers to get a first exposure to a familiar audience with related interests. There will be no formal review process nor proceedings.
MoVES presentations will describe the research activities conducted in the context of the project, and indicate collaborations with other partners from within the network. Presentations will last 20' including questions. Since we have a very loaded schedule this time restrictions will need to be adhered to strictly. A data projector will be available. All presentations should be in English.
All presentations and papers by MoVES members should refer to the fact that they are funded by Belspo. The logo of Belspo can be downloaded from www.belspo.be/iap (general documents)
In order to generate further collaboration links, some participants will present posters that summarise their research interests. Since the posters will be exposed during the sandwich lunch, there should be ample time for discussion with the poster presenters.
All posters submitted by MoVES members should refer to the fact that they are funded by Belspo. The logo of Belspo can be downloaded from www.belspo.be/iap (general documents)
To attract a larger audience, the MoVES meeting will be partly overlapping with the BENEVOL event. Therefore, MoVES presentations that are relevant to BENEVOL (i.e. related to evolution), will be allocated on the afternoon of December 17th. These presenters are encouraged to submit their presentations as research papers to BENEVOL as well. In this way, they can profit from international feedback, and of the possibility of getting their paper selected for journal publication.
Some other papers submitted to the BENEVOL event (by non MoVES members) will be scheduled in the later afternoon of December 17th as well. All remaining BENEVOL papers will be scheduled on December 18.
